You are interviewer’s bitch…

  • If you interview somewhere and feel that the questions are arbitrary or capricious -- that's a good thing. They just put up a giant red flag so you know not to work there.

I can't help feeling like it's a cargo-cult type thing. People saw Google's interview questions in the early 2000's, noticed how successful Google's recruiting was, and have been poorly imitating the process ever since in an attempt to get the same results.

  • I heard a story about an applicant who got to the final day of a multi-day interview for a major tech company I can't mention and was ultimately denied because he ate a piece of candy they offered him.

Irrationality is a virtue for "prestigious" organizations.

  • I'm disappointed this submission was posted even though it contains the word "bitch", which is a misogynistic slur against women.

  • While the sentiment isn't untrue, to say that the "see how you think" discussions are bullshit is going a little far.

  • Also, people interview to spy on the company you worked for, or learn their practices.

  • (Fuck you Amazon)
