I've interacted with Craig Wright a fair bit on Twitter, and I also work in this space, and have a close familiarity with Satoshi's writings. I'm not a core developer, but I would say I am one tier below the core developers in understanding bitcoin (and I've not seen a core developer disagree with my assessment below, with the exception of one who admits he was probably fooled.)
Craig Wright is a conman, nothing more.
He has proven to me, again and again that he is not Satoshi. His twitter feed is filled with belligerent nonsense making claims and then not supporting them and linking the seemingly technical stuff that's nonsense-- perfect for fooling noobs who know nothing about technology but obvious to anyone who does.
Further, his attempt at cryptographic proof (on which this article seems based) was so amateur and poorly done that that alone, in my opinion, is proof he is not satoshi. Satoshi would never make such a mistake.
Further, why would Satoshi leave as early as he did, only to surface later to support every attack on bitcoin (Bcash, 2x, etc) that he can think of and say "fuck you" to the idea of individuals running their own nodes? Satoshi advocated running nodes and the role nodes have in protecting the network in the white paper itself.
I think I know who is Satoshi, and this person has refuted Craig Wright multiple times without of course, admitting to being satoshi, and while I can't prove it, and I'm not going to say who I'm talking about, I will say in my opinion Satoshi (obviously a different person) considers CSW to have no credibility on Bitcoin matters.
CSW is not Satoshi. But he's trying to cash in on confusion.
