Ask HN: Are you on Twitter? Why or why not?

  • Nope, deleted my twitter account in June along with my reddit account. Waste of time, all of it. Twitter is just people being purposefully outrageous, and outraged to get attention. ~0.001% (most likely far less, but I can't be bothered typing all the 0's) of content is actually meaningful

  • I joined 4 months ago. And if you pick the right accounts to follow, there’s tremendous value, people that provide great mentorship and potential customers.

It definitely helps you take advantage of opportunities as well.

  • I largely gave up being here and switched to Twitter. One of the dangers of a smaller community is you reach a point where you've pretty much heard what everyone has to say, and it gets stale.

  • I think Twitter's design encourages unhealthy information consumption. I don't want to support that so I don't use it.
