Experts versus Elites

  • Honest expert opinions on big contemporary questions are almost always “nobody knows” or “depends on assumptions” or “the data is inconclusive” or “the studies may be flawed”, or “its really complicated, but you may begin to understand with a lifetime of effort”, or “the question you are asking is more emotional than factual, and I can’t answer it for you”.

Interviewer: “Do we need UBI because AI is taking our jobs?”

Expert: “I don’t understand the question.”

    Elite: “Yes/no. Be afraid/joyful. Vote Kang/Kodos.”
