Ask HN: Avoid burn out from doing sideproject on weekends

  • Take time off from the side-project, whenever necessary.

Sometimes, I will put that side-project away for an extended break in the region of weeks, or even months, before 'the side-project battery is recharged enough to continue'.

[Come on, surely you have more than one side-project on your todo-list if you can't find a non-development task or two.]

  • Just do what you love. If it does not make you feel happy, do something else. You are at the exploratory phase - don't commit too early if you are not truly deeply interested in those. It's indeed a key to win a game.

  • Just leave the weekend for mountain biking and outdoor sports.

  • only do one side project. not more.

  • If you're tired, rest. Developing programs and websites are very taxing work, especially on your mental state. I suggest you do some outdoor activities, unwind and don't think about anything, enjoy.
