I don't see how Twitter can survive as a business entity.
The old executive team is gone and no competent executive wants to work for Twitter.
They're firing half of their employees, and the other half will quit in short order.
Advertisers are pulling out because of the chaos at the company.
In the future, Elon Musk will be able to brag that he single-handedly killed Twitter, for the modest price of $44 billion.

Bankruptcy allows you to rewrite agreements and contracts with creditors: lots of companies are intentionally taken into this state in order to reorganize more aggressively than they otherwise could.
That said, it's still unclear if Elon has some clever plan or is rich fool who is in the process of being separated from his money.
