Kenton's House

  • I love the idea... but something just feels off as far as aesthetics goes. He did a good job making use of the space in a practical way, but it's still just a bit different.

It looks like a LAN party as reimagined by a complete different culture than what you'd expect.

It's like when EDM and hip-hop artists do things from SciFi/fantasy, and the whole audience is stoned, and you think it kinda seems like a filk circle or something, but it's not quite.

Or when someone tries to make a themed bar, but actually they play the same loud music as the next bar over, and they serve the same $24 bloody marys.

I wonder what it's actually like to party there. It's a pretty cool testament to the diversity of gaming for sure.

His Twitter was mentioned in the CloudFlare D1 database submission (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36001474), & I grinned seeing the house is still mentioned in his profile. Works like the exceptional Cap'n Proto prefigure this old great & glorious real world hack, but this gaming house definitely was an idea floated into the world that connected with - I'm sure - many many people.
