The treatment of Julian Assange is a reprehensible stain on the assumed moral authority of the one nation on Earth that falls over itself to lecture the rest of the world on human rights, when it suits it, time and time again.
How any reasonable member of the 5-eyes superstate can tolerate the chemical lobotomy of Julian in one of the most repressive institutions the West has ever seen, astonishes me. We are truly manifesting the very things Hanna Arendt strived hard to warn her generations about, and as the days go by that Julian and others like him slip into the dark abyss of America's military industrial complex, I fret for the free world, such as it remains.
And now we witness the depravity of America's utterly corrupt intellience reich, which extends supra-national tentacles into the bowels of the beast, to cover its own vast and heinous crimes against humanity and violations of human rights at insane scales.
None of this protects us. It makes us entirely weaker as a society. As the totalitarian-authoritarian personalities get their way, cover their crimes, and victimize those who warned us of it all, I hope our children have the temerity to confront our failings.
