I'm just not sure if what this actually means is that Apple is just kinda behind in the AI game?
I'm pretty sure voice isolation for calls and obviously computational photography have been done by Google for a long time now on their pixel line of phones. I mean, pretty much every android maker out there does computational photography.
These accesibility features of the iPhone are interesting, that's something Apple cares about better than most.
But really, my impression from what I have been getting from Apple lately in this field is that they're just beginning to focus on it. Obviously everything they do they spin positively and they're very good at that. But I would say, it's not that Apple doesn't want to get into generative AI... it's probably more that they just don't feel they have the capabilities of doing it at the quality they expect, yet. Siri is definitely in need of an overhaul.
Apple is a pretty particular company, they're slow movers in many regards but they ensure high quality features.
