Did OpenAI just launch a millionaire-making new channel?
Not like you'd think.
Yesterday's official launch of the GPT Store, first teased by Sam Altman at the Open AI Dev day in Nov 2023, is often compared to Apple's iOS app store.
Many are speculating that it will "create millionaires" and present opportunities for the next generation of entrepreneurs.
However, as someone that has tinkered with creating several GPTs myself, I don't see it playing out like many hope it will.
But if you look beyond the revenue sharing model teased yesterday and look at the wider traction channel and business model opportunities that could arise, some much more lucrative strategies just became possible.
If it does, the pre-requisite will be to have an existing valuable (and private) data set you can plug into you GPT.
(Otherwise your moat is just a text prompt)
Meaning unlike the iOS app store, the millions to be made will be an opportunity available to those who likely already have them.
