M1 MacBook Storage Upgrade to the Highest 2TB Capacity

  • I do wonder if this is cheap and low risk enough to get a repair shop with these kinds of skills to do it for you, rather than paying for the upgraded storage.

If it were at all common though, I'd expect apple to change something so you couldn't re-pair the M1-3 CPU to replacement chips without some internal tool.

    >Firstly, the SSD is usually placed on the outer borders of the MacBook, making it the most accessible to liquid ingress. Secondly, the power delivery system involves a buck converter circuit controller by a BGA IC. This means that high voltages are placed within millimetres of the sensitive lower-voltage lines that power the SSD’s chips. Liquid can easily cause a short circuit that sends higher voltage to the SSD, destroying the chip and preventing any possibility of data recovery.

Maybe sell a $15 upcharge to conformal coat most of the logic board whenever you're doing a third party repair.

  • I love my macbok air m1 a lot. But I bought the 8gb model and I really would like to have 16 or 24gb RAM. It's really annoying that I can't just slap some RAM in it.

  • > The upgrade procedure is relatively simple

It's so simple! Just remove the mainboard and follow these 21 steps.

  • Or Just buy hardware that can be repaired and upgraded by the user.

  • Note: this is an upgrade for the Air. The M1 Pro's max capacity is 8TB.

  • And people say Macs aren’t upgradeable.
