Apple: No notes taken at executive meetings

  • The head of the App Store is claiming that he doesn't specifically track whether or not it's profitable.

I simply don't believe that. He's either playing word games about the technical definition of "profit", or he's outright lying.

Given Apple's recent behaviour with respect to the EU ruling on alternative market places, I'm thinking it's more likely a combination of the two.

  • A success only possible, because the company managed to avoid bankruptcy in 2000's, a very import point that everyone celebrating its success keeps forgeting that if it wasn't for additional money injection and an inverted takeover from a former founder, Apple wouldn't be around any longer.

  • This reminds me of a great scene in the wire: "Is you taking notes on a criminal f---ing conspiracy?"

It's a lot harder to discover something incriminating, intentional or not, if you don't have a record.

  • Honestly, I’m not sure notes add anything of value to most meetings.

If something is important enough, someone will be explicitly tasked with it.
