Some of these are of course because Excel has certain defaults (like the gene-name-to-date conversion).
Some are simply data manipulation (the case that Data Colada uncovered), so not really Excel’s fault.
And some are formula mistakes. Any widely used programming tool will produce bugs like this. It would help if Excel had better facilities for code reviews.
