AWS recently released their r8g instance family with their latest Graviton4 arm CPU. I took it for a spin and added it to the benchmark I maintain of the fastest EC2 instances.

And it results in an impressive 25% faster CPU speed compared to the previous generation (m7g, c7g).

Not exactly impressive considering the prices have also increased as much.

For best performance Intel / AMD still has the edge.

For best price/performance it isn't exactly better.
