How much do SpaceX's reentering Starlink satellites pollute Earth's atmosphere?

  • They're trying very hard to manufacture a story here.

Skipping to the end: satellite reentries are 12% of the space industry's contribution to ozone depletion (they write). The space industry, in turn, is 0.1% of the anthropocentric ozone depletion. Put together: satellite reentries are 0.01% of the total.

(And that total is itself a small fraction of the 20th century levels, prior to the Montreal protocol).
