Three Chapters at Cloudflare: Programmer to CTO to Board of Directors

  • Man, I remember when you used to run the unofficial HN job board, I sent you a role to post there and you did (probably the first role I ever was involved in hiring for!), I spent the rest of the day bragging to people in the office about how the "Alan Turing guy" had replied to my email

Next thing I knew, Cloudflare was everywhere. What an incredible run! Really well deserved, I wish you the best in your new role

  • I am both amazed and a bit scared about how big Cloudflare has become. They offer so much value for free. I have a couple of paid services with them, and I also now use them for my domain registrar. The amount of traffic that flows through Cloudflare is unreal. It's a single point of failure if you want to call it that -- but from a website owner's perspective -- the caching and bandwidth savings for free is a hard bargain to pass up.

  • In my own humble opinion, jgc is the reason behind Cloudflare's open culture and incredible post-mortems. Thanks for making Cloudflare an incredible company to work for and with John. <3

  • Congrats on your promotion(?) and I wish you well in your new position. I enjoy reading your comments around here and look forward to seeing how you continue to steer the company from a different seat.

  • Wish you well in your new role John. You did a great job as CTO.

  • So excited for you jgrahamc!

  • Incredible run, all the best going forward!

  • Huzzah! Well deserved.
