Love this, and I can see why this is the right thing for his location, but I'd be interested in seeing the cost of his solar set up.
That said he seems to have gotten a good deal on a large number of panels, and has the ambition to have a set up that limits the need for batteries (other than the car).
I'll be checking back in on this - brilliant to see this be affordable for more and more people - if only I had the space for panels - the 'best' roof space I have is facing the 'wrong' way - maybe at some point in the future the cost will be low enough that it will be worth putting panels in these less than ideal spaces.
