Ask HN: How to find a job as Java software developer in USA?

  • You would need to find an employer who is willing to sponsor an employment visa. Then you would have to apply to the US government for an employment visa with that employer as your sponsor.

Ironically though if I could live in any other country I would pick Norway.

  • I want to live in the land of freedom and opportunity.

USA might just not be a place to accomplish this goal

  • Unless you know a handful of JS frameworks, you'll have a tough time. And even if you do, it still might not be easy. Good luck getting past the AI-powered resume scanners that most HR departments use.

Source: I've been looking for Java jobs, too.

  • think the visa hurdle is the big one. even if you have a strong background, a lot of companies hesitate unless they already have an immigration pipeline set up. another angle could be looking for remote roles at US companies first, then trying to convert that into relocation later. a bit longer path but sometimes more realistic. good luck.
