I Cut Ties with Science's Top Publisher

  • > Editors are “asked to intentionally and proactively reach out to women researchers” and authors are instructed to suggest reviewers “with diversity in mind.”

    Horrifying

    > In other words, editorial choices and peer review are to be guided not solely by competence but by demographic attributes.

The guidance just says to keep diversity in mind. I don't read it as indicating that diversity should trump field expertise. Does she understand what it means to keep something in mind?

    > I cannot stop but wondering — was I asked to review the manuscript because of my expertise in the subject matter or because of my reproductive organs?

    This is such an overreaction.

  • > The Free Press is a new media company founded by Bari Weiss

    It's a right-leaning, anti-woke website.
